Mario McCoy, 28, a Black man, was killed on October 21, 2022, in New Orleans, Louisiana, after a late-night burst of gunfire turned a St. Roch street corner into a frantic, bleeding scramble for safety. Police were called to the area around the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and North Galvez Street, where four people had been shot—three men and one woman—and the scene suggested the attack had come fast, loud, and without warning.
