David Martins, a 30-year-old Hispanic/Latino male, was shot in front of a residence on Adams Street, near Hemenway Park. Responding to the call at approximately 9:30 p.m., Boston police officers discovered a grim scene. Two individuals had been struck by bullets.
Martins was found critically wounded and was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his
injuries. A second victim, a teenager, was also found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Brigham & Women's Hospital and survived the attack. The shooting cut short the life of a man remembered by his loved ones, who later gathered for a funeral mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dorchester to mourn their loss.
In the aftermath of the shooting, the Boston Police Homicide Unit launched an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, a motive for the shooting has not been officially released.
