In the autumn of 2011, the life of Durell Leary, a 20-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short on the streets of Boston. On the evening of October 24, police responded to reports of a person shot at the intersection of Victor Street and Brooke Avenue. There, they found Leary suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased, and his death was officially ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
