In the late summer of 2012, the life of a young African-American man, Arthur Julien Stewart, was tragically cut short. On September 10, 2012, the 19-year-old was shot at 57 Sanford Street in Boston. Responding officers from the Boston Police Department found Stewart at the scene. He was pronounced deceased, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined his manner of death to be a homicide.
