Another witness, Shamonica Hall, recounted seeing the ex-husband lying on top of Tiffany on the ground after the shooting.
The police had been called to the residence previously due to ongoing domestic issues between Tiffany and her ex-husband, but there had been no recent reports or known threats. The couple had gone through litigation concerning their divorce and separation. Tiffany's children were placed in the care of her mother following the incident.
An autopsy conducted by the Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed that Tiffany died of multiple gunshot wounds, and her death was ruled a homicide. The ex-husband died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The University Park police did not release further details about the ex-husband or any additional suspects, as the case was closed following the determination of the murder-suicide.
