Odell Branch Sr., a 77-year-old African American church deacon, was tragically killed on March 9, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. Branch was sitting on the couch with his 5-year-old great-grandson when gunfire erupted, tearing through their home. The bullets, which were part of an apparent gang-related gun battle, struck Branch, killing him instantly, and grazed his great-grandson's arm.
