Angel G. Reyna, a 25-year-old male from Aurora, IL, tragically passed away on September 19, 2015. He was born on March 27, 1990, in Aurora, IL, to Blanca and Juan H. Reyna. Angel was a fun-loving father and uncle, remembered for his laughter and love of children. He is survived by his mother Blanca Chavez, father Juan H. Reyna, sisters Blanca Townsend and Daisy Reyna, and his children Yarelli, Julian, Karisma, and Madison Estela.
He is also survived by his nephews Julian and R.J., as well as many dear cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The circumstances surrounding Angel Reyna's death were tragic and involved a fatal shooting. On the night of September 18, 2015, Angel Reyna and his friend Adolfo Ramirez, a 24-year-old male from Aurora, were drinking and ingesting cocaine at Ramirez's apartment. Ramirez was allegedly in possession of a loaded .22 caliber revolver and was showing Reyna how to use the gun when it went off, resulting in a single gunshot wound to Reyna's chest. The shooting occurred at approximately 7:12 a.m. on September 19, 2015. Reyna was transported to an Aurora hospital by Aurora Fire Department Paramedics and was pronounced dead at 7:56 a.m.
Adolfo Ramirez was arrested and charged with armed violence, a class-x felony, in connection with the death of Angel Reyna. Initially, Ramirez had been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance related to the same incident and had been released after posting bail. The investigation into the shooting continued, with detectives exploring the possibility that the shooting may have been accidental. Ramirez and Reyna were the only two individuals present in the kitchen where the shooting occurred. Ramirez was expected to appear at a morning bond call following his arrest.
