Do you know who murdered Jeromie?
On the evening of April 8, 2015, the life of 33-year-old African-American male Jeromie Johnson of Boston, Massachusetts, was tragically cut short. In the Dorchester neighborhood, near 50 Richfield Street, Johnson was inside a vehicle when gunfire erupted at approximately 8:20 p.m. He sustained a gunshot wound and was rushed to Boston Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, where he later died. Another man in the vehicle with Johnson, Victor Arrington, was also shot and wounded but survived the attack. The shooter was described in later court documents as an "unknown assailant."
The investigation into Johnson's death quickly became intertwined with another violent crime. Eight days before the shooting, on March 31, 2015, a home invasion and murder occurred on Harvard Street in Dorchester. In that incident, one man was killed, a woman was shot, and the apartment was set on fire. As police delved into both cases, a connection began to emerge. A cooperating witness in the home invasion case eventually identified Victor Arrington as one of the individuals involved in the March 31st crimes. This witness also confirmed that Arrington was the same person who was with Jeromie Johnson when Johnson was killed on April 8.
While Victor Arrington was subsequently indicted on charges of murder, arson, and armed assault for his alleged role in the March 31 home invasion, no suspect has ever been publicly identified or arrested for the murder of Jeromie Johnson. The Boston Police Department lists Jeromie Johnson's death as an unsolved homicide and continues to ask for the public's help with any information regarding the case. Despite the connections made by investigators between the two incidents, the person or persons responsible for the fatal shooting of Jeromie Johnson remain at large.
