Elijah Sims, a 16-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on August 29, 2016, in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. Elijah was just two days shy of his 17th birthday when he was gunned down while hanging out with friends in his old neighborhood. Despite his family's efforts to escape the violence of their previous neighborhood by moving to the nearby suburb of Oak Park, Elijah returned to Austin to visit friends, where he met his untimely death.
