Jason McCullough, a 39-year-old man from Park Forest, IL, was tragically shot and killed on October 28, 2016. The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 p.m. when Park Forest Police responded to a call of shots fired from within a home on the 200 block of Arcadia Street. Upon arrival, officers found Jason McCullough suffering from at least one gunshot wound and showing no signs of life. Paramedics confirmed that McCullough was deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the incident stemmed from a dispute between two adults known to each other, and it was not a random crime.
Following an intensive investigation by the Park Forest Investigations Unit and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, a lone murder suspect, Josiah Clark, 34 years of age, from Park Forest, was indicted on one count of first-degree murder. Clark was apprehended in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and was awaiting extradition to Illinois to face the murder charge. The investigation revealed that McCullough and Clark had been best friends and roommates for years. However, McCullough had recently learned of some disturbing allegations against Clark and had reported them to the police. Additionally, McCullough posted the allegations on Facebook, which investigators believe may have directly led to his death. Clark allegedly went to the house and shot McCullough in retaliation for the Facebook post.
In addition to Josiah Clark, three other individuals were charged in connection with the murder. Imanee Davis, 18 years of age, from Park Forest, and Jabari Davis, 38 years of age, from Chicago Heights, were both indicted on one count each of aiding a fugitive. Joshanda Clark, 35 years of age, from Glenwood, IL, was indicted on one count of obstructing justice. The Park Forest Police Department extended its condolences to the family and friends of Jason McCullough and urged anyone with information regarding the crime to come forward. The case highlighted the tragic consequences of personal disputes and the impact of social media on real-life events.
