In the late summer of 2017, the life of 36-year-old Damien Spencer, an African-American man from Boston, Massachusetts, was tragically cut short. On the night of August 13th, police responded to a report of a person shot at 39 Mt. Pleasant Avenue in the Roxbury neighborhood. There, they found Spencer suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries, and his death was ruled a homicide.
