Renee Isadore, a 43-year-old woman from Orland Park, IL, tragically lost her life on June 24, 2018, in what authorities determined to be a murder-suicide. The incident occurred in the parking lot of a P.F. Chang's restaurant located at 14135 S. LaGrange Road. Renee was leaving the restaurant after having lunch with her parents when she was approached by Steven A. Shereyk, a 59-year-old man from Willow Springs, IL.
Shereyk shot Renee multiple times as she was walking to her car, resulting in her death inside the vehicle. Shereyk then turned the gun on himself, dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Orland Park police and the medical examiner's office ruled Renee Isadore's death a homicide and Steven Shereyk's death a suicide. The investigation revealed that there was a relationship between Renee and Shereyk, although they were not married. The exact nature of their relationship remains unclear, but it was significant enough to lead to this tragic event.
Following Renee's death, her husband, Edward Isadore, filed a lawsuit against the estate of Steven Shereyk. The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, sought damages for the pain and suffering Edward endured due to the loss of his wife, as well as the expenses incurred from her wrongful death. Edward Isadore requested $50,000 for his own pain and suffering, $50,000 for the pain and suffering Renee endured as she was dying, $35,049 for funeral and burial expenses, and $12,758 for damage to her 2016 Acura MDX.
The case brought to light the emotional and financial toll that such a violent act can have on the victim's family. Despite the lawsuit, the tragic loss of Renee Isadore, a dedicated nurse and beloved family member, remains a poignant reminder of the devastating impact of domestic violence and the importance of addressing such issues within our communities.
