Latino male Juan Agredano, age 42, was out in the pre-dawn dark of June 8, 2019, standing in an alley off the 3000 block of South Trumbull Avenue in Chicago's Little Village when a dark-colored vehicle rolled up and a gunman opened fire.
The shots broke the night and sent two men to the ground; Agredano, age 42, was struck multiple times, while the second man, 49, was hit in the shoulder.
Juan Agredano was rushed from the alley to Mount Sinai Hospital as officers converged on the block, neighbors waking to sirens and the sweep of squad-car lights across garages and back fences.
At the hospital, doctors could not save him. 42 year old Juan Agredano had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the back and was pronounced dead at 6:44 a.m., a few hours after the attack that began around 2:42 a.m. An autopsy by the Cook County medical examiner concluded his death was a homicide.
The wounded 49 year old man was listed in serious condition, another life diverted by the same burst of gunfire in the same narrow space.
Detectives opened a homicide investigation but found no immediate closure to offer. Police reported no arrests in the case and said no one was in custody, with the vehicle and its shooter gone into the city's grid before dawn.
