Matthew Mason, a 26-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on July 14, 2019, in the South Chicago neighborhood. The incident occurred in the 8500 block of South Escanaba, a location known for its high crime rates. Mason's death was part of a violent episode that also claimed the life of Maurice Jackson, a 31-year-old African American male.
