Nataliya Ermak, a 55-year-old woman from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, was tragically killed on November 17, 2019. She and her husband, Roman Frid, 69, were found fatally shot in the parking garage of their apartment complex. The suspect in this double homicide was identified as Anatoliy Ermak, Nataliya's ex-husband. According to police reports, Anatoliy followed the couple into the garage, engaged in a brief conversation with them, and then shot them multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Anatoliy Ermak had a history of domestic issues with Nataliya. In 2007, he was arrested for domestic assault, with Nataliya listed as the victim. He was also convicted of misdemeanor disorderly conduct in Minnesota the same year. Following the murders, Anatoliy fled the Chicago area and was later located in Edina, Minnesota. During a standoff with police, he shot himself and was transported to a hospital in critical condition. He died from his self-inflicted injuries on November 25, 2019.
The investigation into the murders revealed that the crime was not random but a targeted attack. Surveillance footage showed Anatoliy following the couple into the garage and shooting them at close range.
