In the spring of 2008, a 36-year-old Black man named Marcus Hughes lost his life on the streets of Baltimore. On the evening of March 8th, violence erupted in the 1800 block of E. 28th Street, leaving Hughes with fatal gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, but tragically, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
