Tyrone Long, a 33-year-old African American man, was tragically killed on July 4, 2020, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the South Shore neighborhood, where Tyrone and two others were standing on the sidewalk at approximately 9:43 p.m. when someone in a blue SUV opened fire. Tyrone was shot multiple times in the chest and was rushed to Jackson Park Hospital by a friend. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries at 10:12 p.m.
The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed that Tyrone's death was a homicide.

A 44-year-old man was shot in the thigh and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition, while a 27-year-old woman was grazed on the ankle and declined medical treatment. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been made in connection with Tyrone Long's death. Area Two detectives are actively investigating the case, but as of now, no suspects have been identified or taken into custody.
