Tony Townsend, a 41-year-old African American male from East St. Louis, Illinois, was tragically shot and killed on July 11, 2020. The incident occurred around 7:25 a.m. in a fenced-in lot located at 1213 State Street. This unfortunate event was part of a series of four homicides that took place in East St. Louis over a span of four days, from July 9 to July 12, 2020.
