Chauncey Malik Ali Jr., a 29-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on August 30, 2020, in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago. The incident occurred at approximately 3:38 a.m. in the 900 block of West Garfield Boulevard. Chauncey was leaving a party when he was shot in the head. Officers found him unresponsive on the ground and he was subsequently taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Cook County medical examiner's office ruled his death a homicide.
