On February 5, 2014, Markeyo Carr, a 17-year-old from Chicago, was fatally shot in a parking lot near a McDonald's in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The shooting occurred in an area known for gang disputes, and Carr was one of four people injured when a masked gunman opened fire. He died at the scene, while others were injured but survived.
