On September 19, 2020, 44-year-old Jerome Darrell Rushing was fatally shot in the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. Rushing was standing with a group of people outside in the 6900 block of South Claremont Avenue when someone opened fire. He was struck multiple times in the abdomen and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide.
Three other individuals were also injured in the shooting. A 38-year-old man was shot in the ankle and stabilized at the same hospital. A 23-year-old man was shot in the back and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized. Additionally, a 39-year-old woman was shot in the calf and also received treatment at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
As of now, there have been no arrests or suspects named in connection with Jerome Darrell Rushing's death. The investigation into his murder remains ongoing, and law enforcement continues to seek information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible.
