Roberto Avila-Juarez, a 20-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically killed on October 27, 2020, in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 200 block of West Berkley Lane, where Avila-Juarez was found with a fatal gunshot wound to his face. According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that Avila-Juarez knew his assailant, a 17-year-old male named Christian Armstrong.
The day before the murder, Armstrong attempted to rob Avila-Juarez during a drug transaction. Avila-Juarez managed to escape into his home, but the following morning, Armstrong returned and shot him at close range. Armstrong was charged as an adult with first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery. He turned himself in to the Hoffman Estates police and was held on $100,000 bail with electronic monitoring.
