On November 3, 2020, Samuel DeHart, a 27-year-old man from Chicago, IL, was fatally shot in the Lawndale neighborhood. DeHart and a 30-year-old woman were sitting in a parked vehicle on West Polk Street when two individuals approached and began firing shots at them. DeHart was struck in the torso and head and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled his death a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.
