Damia Smith, a 15-year-old African American girl from Evanston, IL, tragically lost her life on January 9, 2021, as a result of a violent shooting spree that spanned from Chicago to Evanston. Damia was critically wounded while riding in a car with her mother on South Halsted Street. She was shot in the head and succumbed to her injuries at Comer Children's Hospital nearly a month later.
