On an autumn day in 2008, the life of 25-year-old Jason Betts, a Black male, was cut short in the 2400 block of Loyola Southway in Baltimore. It was Saturday, October 25th, when Betts was fatally shot. The incident was one of two homicides recorded in the city on that same day, contributing to a year-end total of 234 killings in Baltimore.
