On a cold winter day in Baltimore, Maryland, the life of Lisa Towand Bushrod, a 42-year-old African-American woman, was tragically cut short. On December 26, 2008, she was found at 12:30 p.m. in the 2000 block of North Wolfe Street, the victim of a fatal shooting. She was pronounced dead at the scene, becoming another grim statistic in a city grappling with a high rate of violent crime.
