On February 28, 2022, in downtown Chicago, a Black male, Vadarrion A. Knight, age 16, stepped off the Grand Avenue Red Line escalator just after 2 a.m. and into an ambush.
According to police, the teen was shot twice in the chest and once in the knee in the first block of East Grand; he was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter ran off on foot, and detectives opened a homicide investigation.
