Juan Nandi, a 22-year-old man from Chicago, IL, tragically lost his life on August 8, 2022. Juan, who was of Hispanic descent, was walking with his fiancée in the Albany Park neighborhood when two masked gunmen approached them and opened fire. Juan heroically shielded his fiancée, taking multiple gunshots to his body, which ultimately led to his death. His fiancée, a 20-year-old woman, was shot in the leg but survived the attack.
