Couriaun L. Atkins, a 23-year-old African American male from Peoria, Illinois, tragically lost his life on October 22, 2022. According to the Peoria County Coroner, Jamie Harwood, Couriaun was shot multiple times in the early hours of that day. The Peoria Police Department responded to two ShotSpotter alerts indicating a total of 16 shots fired in the 2900 block of West Seibold Street around 2:36 a.m. Despite life-saving measures taken by the police, Couriaun was pronounced dead at the scene. ...
