Thomas S. Grant, a police officer with the Atlanta Police Department, was fatally shot on May 17, 1902, in Atlanta, Georgia. Officer Grant, along with fellow officers Edward Crabtree, Hugh Osburn, and Bailiff Ed Battle, was attempting to arrest a gang of criminals who had previously assaulted a former police officer.
