In the autumn of 1976, the life of 19-year-old Katharina Wright was tragically cut short in her Columbus, Georgia, apartment. The young woman, a female, was the victim of a brutal crime that would remain a subject of legal contention for decades to come. Her death, which occurred on November 30, 1976, was the result of a violent encounter that included a robbery and sexual assault. The initial investigation into her murder led to the arrest and subsequent conviction of Johnny Lee Gates.
