Special Agent Robert M. Kirk, a 38-year-old white male, was tragically killed on August 29, 1988, in Panthersville, Georgia. He was serving with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) at the time of his death. Kirk had a distinguished career, having previously served with the Georgia State Patrol for 12 years before joining the GBI, where he had been for two years.
