Danny Lee Elbert, a 28-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on April 19, 1990, in Wrightsville, Georgia. Deputy Sheriff Elbert was serving with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office at the time of his death, having joined the force only seven months prior. His life was cut short during an escape attempt by an inmate at the county jail.
