Deputy Sheriff Brett C. Dickey, a 30-year-old white male, tragically lost his life on February 13, 1996, in Ellijay, Georgia. Deputy Dickey was serving a warrant when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred during a stand-off, and several officers, including his father-in-law, Chief Deputy of Gilmer County, were present at the scene.
