James Edwards, a 67-year-old African American man, was found dead on June 1, 2014, in Washington, Georgia. His death was the result of a violent crime that shocked the local community. On the morning of his death, a passerby discovered his body lying on a dirt road in an area known as "Railroad Alley." The initial investigation revealed that Edwards had been shot, and the case was quickly classified as a homicide.
