Lt. Matt Fowler, a 31-year-old white male, was found dead on August 22, 2014, in Adairsville, Georgia. Fowler, who served as a lieutenant with the Adairsville Police Department, was discovered inside his unmarked patrol vehicle in an apparent suicide. According to reports, Fowler fatally shot himself while parked in a subdivision near the edge of the city limits. The incident occurred when he was off duty, and his body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Crime Lab for an autopsy.
