In the quiet setting of Baldwin, Georgia, a domestic dispute on a Sunday afternoon in May of 2015 shattered the peace and ended in the tragic deaths of two brothers. Dave William Sears, a 67-year-old male, was identified as one of the men who lost his life on that day. The incident, which unfolded at a residence on Georgia Highway 198, was the result of a heated argument that escalated to the use of a firearm.
According to the Banks County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the
scene around 1:30 p.m. on May 17, 2015, with a report of a double shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered two men, who were later confirmed to be brothers, both deceased. The other man was identified as 48-year-old Robert Allen Sears of Commerce.
Eyewitness accounts from family members present at the time provided a grim narrative of the events. They informed investigators that a domestic dispute between the brothers had taken a violent turn. It was during this altercation that Robert Allen Sears reportedly shot his older brother, Dave William Sears. In the immediate aftermath of the initial shooting, Robert Allen Sears then took his own life with the same firearm.
The investigation by the Banks County Sheriff's Office concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. As the perpetrator was also deceased, no arrests were made in connection with the death of Dave William Sears.
