In the late spring of 2015, the quiet community of Hiram, Georgia, was unsettled by a tragedy that unfolded within a local home. On May 27th, deputies from the Paulding County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a residence where they made a grim discovery. Inside, they found 44-year-old Nicole Thomas, a female, who had died from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation into her death quickly identified a suspect: her 41-year-old husband, Rockwell Thelmon Serrabo. Authorities were alerted to the situation after Serrabo contacted his ex-wife and confessed to killing Thomas, also stating his intention to take his own life. This prompted the welfare check that led to the discovery of Thomas's body.
The case, which authorities treated as a murder-suicide, revealed a history of domestic turmoil. Investigators learned that Thomas and Serrabo were estranged and that she had recently initiated divorce proceedings. After an extensive search of the surrounding area, investigators found Serrabo's body in a wooded area not far from his vehicle, bringing a somber end to the investigation.
