On a warm evening in College Park, Georgia, on August 3, 2015, an 18-year-old African American male named Deltino Crain was with two friends, an 18-year-old female and a 16-year-old male, at the Willow Way Apartments. The three were sitting on the stairs of one of the apartment buildings when a vehicle entered the parking lot. Inside the car were an unknown number of individuals who opened fire on the group in a drive-by shooting.
All three teenagers were struck by the gunfire.
Crain was hit multiple times and was rushed to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The other two victims sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. in the 5800 block of Riverdale Road.
Despite the efforts of the Clayton County Police Department, the case grew cold. Investigators have not been able to identify any suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Deltino Crain. Two years after the fatal shooting, in October 2017, the police issued a public appeal for any new information that could lead to a break in the case. They urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers. As of the last available reports, the identities of those responsible for the death of Deltino Crain remain unknown, and the case remains an unsolved homicide.
