In what was described as a domestic dispute turned deadly, 30-year-old Claudette Noremia Duclos, a female, lost her life on a Thursday night in Forest Park, Georgia. The events unfolded just before 11:00 p.m. on September 22, 2016, when police responded to a 911 call from a home in the 500 block of North Street. Upon arrival, they discovered Duclos with a gunshot wound to the chest and a male victim who had been shot in the arm. Both were transported to a local hospital, where Duclos succumbed to her injuries. The male victim, later identified as Jose Moore, was in stable condition.
The investigation quickly pointed to 23-year-old Tia Marie Dos Santos, the ex-girlfriend of Moore. Authorities believed the motive was jealousy, as Duclos was Moore's new girlfriend. The tragic incident was not the first sign of trouble between Dos Santos and Moore. Just months prior, in May 2016, Dos Santos had been charged with stalking, criminal trespass, and making harassing phone calls against Moore. These charges were still pending at the time of the shooting. Moore had reported to police that Dos Santos had vandalized his truck and spray-painted obscenities on his house. For a few months, the situation seemed to have quieted down, until that fateful September night when Dos Santos went to Moore's home, shooting him and killing Duclos.
Following the shooting, Dos Santos fled the state. Forest Park police identified her as the suspect and issued warrants for her arrest on charges of murder and aggravated assault. A search for her ended the next day in Knoxville, Tennessee. Her vehicle was spotted at a gas station, and although she attempted to run when she saw the authorities, she was taken into custody. She was held in Tennessee, awaiting extradition back to Georgia to face the charges against her.
