On a tragic evening in Albany, Georgia, the life of 25-year-old Demarquis Williams, an African American male, was violently cut short. On June 27, 2017, Williams, along with two other individuals, became the victim of a brutal triple homicide at a residence on East Alberson Drive. The other victims were identified as 23-year-old Tyquis Smith and 26-year-old Adrianna Holmes. The horrific event unfolded in the presence of two young children, a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old, who were thankfully unharmed.
Demarquis Williams, born on February 28, 1992, was remembered by loved ones as a caring and witty individual who was deeply cherished. An aspiring rapper with a unique outlook on life, he was a loving father to his daughter. The community was left in shock by the violent nature of the crime, as it was later revealed that the three victims were shot a total of 25 times. Williams and Smith were each shot eight times, while Holmes was shot nine times.
The investigation into the triple homicide led to the identification and eventual arrest of four suspects: Ticorey Frazier, Kareem Williams, Quadarrien Harvey, and Shon Mallory. Prosecutors stated that the suspects and victims were acquainted and that the motive for the killings was armed robbery. The four men were also implicated in a broader crime spree that included another home invasion where the victim was shot and left paralyzed.
After a three-week trial, a Dougherty County jury returned guilty verdicts against all four defendants on October 6, 2023. They were convicted on multiple charges, including felony murder, home invasion, and aggravated assault. On November 10, 2023, the four men were each sentenced to three consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole, in addition to several more years for other charges. The successful prosecution was a collaborative effort involving the Dougherty Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office, the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia, and the Attorney General's Gang Prosecution Unit.
