In the late hours of a September evening in 2018, the life of Thalmus Rasulala 'Chig' Jones, a 41-year-old African American male, was tragically cut short on the streets of Columbus, Georgia. On September 8th, Jones was shot and killed, marking the city's 24th homicide of the year.

Born in Columbus on October 29, 1976, Jones was a father to one son and four daughters. The shooting left his family, including a special friend, to grapple with the sudden and violent loss.
