In the early morning hours of November 1, 2018, a fatal encounter at a gated apartment complex in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood resulted in the death of 38-year-old Adalberto Narvaez-Pozos. The Hispanic male was shot and killed at the Allure at Brookwood apartments on Peachtree Valley Road. A second man, identified as Tomas Garcia Carrillo, was also shot but survived his injuries.
The incident occurred as Narvaez-Pozos and Carrillo were exiting the gate of the complex while the suspect
was entering. An exchange of gunfire ensued, leading to Narvaez-Pozos being shot multiple times. Carrillo was shot in the hand and arm as he tried to flee. Following the shooting, the gunman fled the scene on foot.
Atlanta police investigators were working to determine the motive behind the deadly shooting, having tentatively ruled out robbery. They had hoped that surveillance cameras in the vicinity would provide crucial evidence to aid in their investigation. At the time, the only description of the suspect was that of a Black male in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall. There have been no public announcements of any arrests made in the case, and the identity of the suspect remains unknown.
