In a tragic turn of events on a Saturday in Alpharetta, Georgia, 45-year-old Tynesha Evans, a mother of four, was fatally shot in the parking lot of a Wells Fargo bank. The incident, which occurred on March 16, 2019, stemmed from a domestic dispute with her on-again, off-again boyfriend.
Evans, an accomplished author and healthcare industry worker, had reportedly fallen on hard times and was meeting 58-year-old Othniel Inniss at the bank with the understanding that he was going to
provide her with financial assistance. However, the meeting escalated into a heated argument, reportedly over a cellphone and accusations of an affair. During the confrontation, Inniss recorded the argument on his phone. At one point, Evans allegedly took the phone from him. In the recording, Evans can be heard telling Inniss to 'shoot me' before he fires the fatal shot.
Following the gunshot, an armed witness who was driving by intervened, holding Inniss at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived. Alpharetta police arrested Inniss at the scene without incident and charged him with murder and aggravated assault with a firearm. Evans was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
The case concluded in February 2025 when Othniel Inniss pleaded guilty to murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. A judge sentenced him to 25 years in prison—20 years for the murder and an additional five for the firearm charge. Before his sentencing, Inniss apologized for his actions, and Evans' family members delivered impact statements, expressing their ongoing grief and the void left by their mother's senseless death.
