In the spring of 2012, the life of Torey Maurice Garrison, a 34-year-old African-American man, was tragically cut short on the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. On the evening of April 16th, in the 4700 block of Liberty Heights Avenue, Garrison became the victim of a fatal shooting. His death marked the 53rd homicide in the city that year, a grim statistic in a city grappling with persistent violence.
