In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 24, 2020, a high school graduation party on Bluebird Lane in Alamo, Georgia, turned into a scene of violence that claimed the life of 42-year-old Ronesta Tayshawn Kotoya Williams. The celebration, held at a residence, was shattered at approximately 2:10 a.m. when an exchange of gunfire erupted among multiple individuals present at the large gathering.
During the shootout, Williams was fatally wounded.
Two other people were also struck by bullets during the incident. Michael Waddell, 26, of McRae, was left in critical condition, and 18-year-old India Harris of Alamo sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and required medical treatment. The Alamo Police Department quickly requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to lead the inquiry into the deadly shooting.
The investigation progressed swiftly, and on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, three suspects were taken into custody in connection with the shooting. Turner Logan Flint, 20, of McRae-Helena, Jaquaves Hooks, 25, of Alamo, and Cory McRae, 21, of McRae-Helena, were all arrested without incident. Each of the three men was charged with felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Following their arrests, they were booked into the Wheeler County Jail.
