In the pre-dawn hours of November 16, 2020, a violent home invasion in Blakely, Georgia, claimed the life of 63-year-old Clifford L. Moore, an African American man. The tranquil morning was shattered around 1:36 a.m. when law enforcement received a distressing call about a break-in and shooting on North Woodlawn Drive. Officers and deputies from the Early County Sheriff's Office arrived to a chaotic scene where three men had been shot.

Tragically, Mr. Moore succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Lifebrite Community Hospital. Two other men, identified as 36-year-old Tony Smith and 30-year-old Dustin Jackson, were also wounded during the home invasion. They were transported to local hospitals for treatment and were subsequently released. It remains unclear if any of the men resided at the house where the shooting occurred.

In the wake of the deadly shooting, the Blakely Police Department, with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, launched a homicide investigation. Authorities processed the crime scene, interviewed potential witnesses, and pursued various leads in an effort to bring those responsible to justice. Despite their ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Clifford L. Moore. The case remains an active and open investigation, with law enforcement urging anyone with information to come forward.

Remembered as a loving father, brother, and cousin, Clifford L. Moore is survived by his two children, Connie Williams and Clifford Lee Moore, Jr., and five grandchildren. His family and community mourned his untimely death, holding a celebration of his life on November 28, 2020, at Veterans Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, Florida. The lack of resolution in his case has left a void for his loved ones who continue to seek justice for his tragic death.
