On a Tuesday night, December 15, 2020, in Jesup, Georgia, the life of 17-year-old Lester Denison was tragically cut short. The young man, a White male, was fatally shot on Fender Road in what authorities believe was a dispute over a small sum of money for marijuana. Wayne County deputies responded to reports of a shooting shortly before 10:00 p.m. and discovered Denison's unresponsive body near a wooded area.
According to witness accounts, an altercation had taken place concerning a debt of approximately $40 related to marijuana. Following the dispute, Denison and others reportedly ran from the scene. It was then that an unknown individual opened fire, and at least one gunshot struck and fatally wounded the teenager. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, launched an investigation into the homicide.
