In the late summer of 2021, just two weeks before she was to be married, 37-year-old Dominique Bowers, a female U.S. Navy veteran, was found dead in her Warner Robins, Georgia, home. On the afternoon of August 13th, police responded to a call about shots fired at a residence on Adirondac Way. The 911 call was reportedly made by the suspect, who informed the dispatcher about the shooting.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered Dominique Bowers inside the home with a fatal gunshot wound. A short time later, her 13-year-old son was taken into custody less than a mile away on Old Perry Road. The teenager, whose name has not been publicly released due to his age, was subsequently charged with murder and aggravated assault in connection with his mother's death.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the tragic shooting. Following his arrest, the 13-year-old made his first court appearance at the Houston County Superior Court and was ordered to be held at the Crisp County Youth Detention Center. Dominique Bowers was originally from New York and had previously worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation after her service in the Navy. She had become engaged in December 2019 and was planning her wedding for the end of August.
