Joseph "Joey" Carney, a 13-year-old boy from Guyton, Georgia, tragically passed away on October 11, 2021. On that fateful evening, the Effingham County Sheriff's Office received a call just after 8 p.m. and dispatched deputies to the area of McLaws Road. Upon arrival, they found Joey critically injured.
